How to Create QR Code Guide Cards

Learn how to create photo sharing guide cards with QR codes and effective ways to display them on place cards and invitations.

Published: 2026年2月16日

When collecting photos at events, having QR code guide cards dramatically increases participation rates. This article explains placement strategies and design tips for QR codes.

What Are QR Code Guide Cards?

QR code guide cards are printed cards that feature a QR-coded album URL along with a message like "Upload your photos here!" Participants simply scan the QR code with their smartphone camera to start uploading photos immediately.

Placement Ideas

Place Cards and Table Cards

Print QR codes on place cards set at tables for weddings and social gatherings. Since guests notice them while seated, you can expect high participation rates.

Invitations and Notices

Including a QR code on invitations sent in advance lets guests know about the album before the event. Add a note like "Please upload the photos you take on the day here."

Posters and Standing Signs

Display larger posters at the venue entrance or reception area. A4 to A3 size allows QR codes to be scanned even from a distance.

Business Card-Sized Cards

Small cards handed out individually at reception. Since they fit in pockets or bags, guests can pull them out anytime during the event.

Design Tips

  • QR Code Size: At least 2cm x 2cm. Too small and it becomes difficult to scan
  • Ensure White Space: Leave a white margin around the QR code
  • Clear Instructions: Add a message that's instantly understandable, such as "Scan with your phone to upload photos!"
  • Include the Event Name: Make it clear which event the album belongs to
  • Background Contrast: QR codes are best in black on white. If using a colored background, pay attention to contrast

PicTomo's QR Flyer Feature

PicTomo has a built-in feature that automatically generates flyers with QR codes. After creating an album, simply click the "QR Flyer" button to create guide cards with usage instructions included. You can choose from two formats: a "card type" that can be printed on A4 paper and cut out, or a "poster type" that can be displayed as-is.

Summary

QR code guide cards are an essential tool for successfully collecting photos at events. By carefully choosing placement locations and design, you can significantly increase participants' photo upload rates. Start by creating an album and printing out QR codes.
